Bainbridge Quilt Festival Comes to the Island!
Bainbridge Island’s Quilt Festival is a celebration of quilts and quilters that will be held outdoors along Winslow Way, in downtown Bainbridge Island, WA, on Saturday, September 13, 2014.
The Bainbridge Quilt Festival was inspired by the Sister’s Outdoor Quilt Show in Sisters, Oregon. Barbara Kirk of Esther’s Fabrics, along with several quilting businesses and groups, set out to stage a small version of the Sister’s show. Bainbridge Island Modern Quilt Guild, White Lotus Quilting, Beach Garden Quilts and Pink Chalk Fabrics as well as many Island businesses and individuals pitched in to make a wonderful debut in September 2013.
As a non-juried show, quilters of all levels and styles are welcome to enter their work. Even if you don’t enter a quilt into the contest, there are many volunteer opportunities. Interested? Contact Festival organizers through their website.
Now in its second year, the Bainbridge Quilt Festival begins at 9:30 am on Saturday and continues through 5:00 pm. Festival day includes a “Sew-In” for American Hero Quilts staged at the Bainbridge Island Art Museum Classroom. Anyone can sew at this event. Add you pieces to a quilt for wounded veterans. Join the Sew In. Enjoy the Festival. Serve a great cause!
