Grand Old Fourth of July Parade on Bainbridge IslandGrand Old Fourth

July is a wonderful time of year on Bainbridge Island, with long sunny summer days, and a busy events calendar. Without a doubt, the Island’s biggest event of the year is our Grand Old Fourth festival. Nicknamed “Bainbridge Island’s biggest party,” the Fourth is highlighted by what’s been named the “Best Small Town Parade in America!” That’s right, and you can find it on our little island! In addition to the parade, the fun includes a pancake breakfast, all-day street fair, foot races, classic car show, music, food and lots of entertainment. (Visit the official website)

Things To Do on Bainbridge Island This Week – July 22-28

It’s another big week of events here on Bainbridge Island. It kicks off with a great summer camp for kids at the Kids’ Discovery Museum, and wraps up with the 7th annual Bainbridge Bluegrass Festival. In-between, chat with Markus Zusak, author of The Book Thief… or read your own story at the Bainbridge Island Story Slam! As you can see, there’s always lots to do on beautiful (and active) Bainbridge Island! Here’s our list for this week.

Monday, July 22

Camp: Picture This

They will learn about color theory with the Mixed-up Chameleon; set out on a nature scavenger hunt with the Very Busy Spider; discuss their feelings with the Grouchy Ladybug and see the story come to life, as they meet a real Rooster Off to See the World… or at least the Kids’ Discovery Museum. Nature Photography for Kids with David Perry

Great for kids ages 8-12, they’ll learn basic photography skills like composition and have hours of fun exploring the grounds from behind the lens. Bring your SLR, point-and-shoot, or fully-charged smart phone, memory cards, and spare batteries. Admission: $25 for members; $30 for non-members; Limited to 20 participants
