How To See Bainbridge Island Without a Car

How to Get Around Bainbridge Island WIthout a CarBainbridge Island is only 8.5 miles away from downtown Seattle, and is best reached via the 35-minute Washington State Ferry from Coleman Dock. Getting here can require a little bit of patience and advanced planning, but luckily, it’s one of the few destinations on this side of the Puget Sound that is not only easy to get to, but easy to get around. Bainbridge Island Guesthouse Spotlight: Seabold Cottage

As we thought about which of the Bainbridge Island Lodging Association‘s member inns to profile next on our Island Guesthouse Spotlight, we wanted to choose a private, romantic getaway, perfect for a summer escape.

Tucked among towering cedar trees, the Seabold Cottage offers a peaceful and uniquely Northwestern hideaway. Curl up in front of the wood burning stove with a good book or the love of your life. Linger over your second cup of tea on the deck overlooking the tranquil and spectacular gardens. Stretch your legs with a stroll down to the beach, a bike ride along our shady, quiet lanes or go swan watching at the internationally renowned Bloedel Reserve just down the road. Or, simply sit back in the cushioned porch chairs and recharge your batteries.

Whether your escape to Seabold Cottage is for a romantic weekend or for an extended stay, you can start each day with a steaming pot of locally-roasted premium coffee. And, should you choose, you can also enjoy freshly baked morning muffins and bread from Bainbridge Island’s own Blackbird Bakery, as well as juice and a newspaper, all delivered to you front door!

In terms of the cottage’s furnishings, the queen-size bed in the bedroom is adorned with premium bedding and a plush goose down comforter. Fresh flowers add to the already light and airy atmosphere. Guests who desire more of a lime light can adjust the wooden blinds located throughout the cottage.

The Seabold Cottage‘s Sitting Room has all the comforts of home, including satellite TV, a VCR and stereo system, as well as a library of books and videos. For extra guests, the sofa folds out into a double bed. The unit also contains a table, chairs and a desk.

The Seabold Cottage‘s Kitchenette is fully equipped with a sink, refrigerator, microwave oven, coffee maker and an assortment of teas. The private bathroom has a shower, pedestal sink, always fluffy towels, and designer bathrobes for your comfort.

Beyond the cottage is a 1.5-acre parcel featuring specimen plantings, a small orchard, rose and perennial gardens, and a professionally designed vegetable garden. The grounds include a covered deck, which is covered in case of a sprinkle or the midday sun.

Perhaps the best way to describe the charm of Seabold Cottage is to excerpt some testimonials from recent guests.

“A wonderful quiet time away. We enjoyed the privacy, the beautiful and charming decor and all the little extras that made us feel pampered.” -Steve, Edgewood, WA

“Simply the best! Rustic elegance – very warm & inviting, every attention to detail was made. Thoughtful & comfortable place. We will be back for sure.” -Parke, Aspen, CO
