How To See Bainbridge Island Without a Car

How to Get Around Bainbridge Island WIthout a CarBainbridge Island is only 8.5 miles away from downtown Seattle, and is best reached via the 35-minute Washington State Ferry from Coleman Dock. Getting here can require a little bit of patience and advanced planning, but luckily, it’s one of the few destinations on this side of the Puget Sound that is not only easy to get to, but easy to get around. We recently posted a blog that serves as an excellent guide to the many different options for transportation on Bainbridge Island. But truly, we think one of the easiest and most interesting ways to get around Bainbridge Island is without a car. Much of Bainbridge Island is walkable, and when things get a little too far, there are always bikes available to rent. Once you start exploring, we don’t think you’ll want to stop. Check availability at the many Bainbridge Island Lodging properties, so you can keep the adventure going. Continue reading

Bainbridge Island’s Eleven Winery Receives Award

Eleven Winery's Matt Albee

Eleven Winery’s Matt Albee

The Interfaith Council of Bainbridge Island / North Kitsap has awarded Bainbridge Island’s Eleven Winery with its Tikkun Olam award, which is given annually to a business or organization that supports “Healing the World.”

Eleven Winery was chosen for their “focus on sustainability” and “environmentally green” practices. Matt Albee, Eleven Winery’s owner, said that money isn’t the guiding vision behind the winery’s growth and success.

Eleven Winery is a small, family-run winery dedicated to producing great wine. Production currently includes about 2,000 cases of Malbec, Syrah, Mourvedre, Petit Verdot, Pinot Grigio, Roussanne, Viognier and Ports. Eleven Winery’s downtown Winslow tasting room is open all week (287 Winslow Way East). The winery is open on weekends from noon to 5:00 pm (7671 NE Day Road) and includes a picnic area, petanque court and live music on Saturdays.

eleven-winery-logo-201x141The Interfaith Council, formed in 1997, includes over 20 faith groups and offers a variety of annual events—including the Baccalaureate service, a public reading of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and a community Thanksgiving service.

The Bainbridge Island Lodging Association (BILA) is comprised of 25 vacation rentals, guest houses, bed and breakfasts (B&B), boutique hotels, inns and cottages on Bainbridge Island, in Washington State. BILA is dedicated to bringing you quality accommodation on our beautiful island in the Pacific Northwest. Visit our website for Bainbridge Island events and attractions, and of course, for your vacation rentals.

Bainbridge Island Destinations: Eleven Winery

eleven-winery-logo-201x141Eleven Winery is the brainchild of Matt Albee: winemaker, owner, chief cook, bottle washer… you get the idea. However, the whole thing would be impossible without the support of his wife, Sarah, and two boys, Cole and Cameron. Eleven Winery relies on amazing and wonderful people running their tasting room locations and keeping the wine club organized, as well as from the support of a cadre of tireless volunteers.

Eleven Winery is a small, family-run winery dedicated to producing great wine, and to making sure that you have a great time drinking it! Anyone who tells you that wine tasting is serious business or tries to make you feel bad about your level of wine knowledge is just plain missing the point, as far as Albee is concerned. Albee and his crew are happy to answer all your questions so that you can hold your own in party conversation with the snobbiest wine geek.

Eleven Winery‘s production currently includes about 2,000 cases of Malbec, Syrah, Mourvedre, Petit Verdot, Pinot Grigio, Roussanne, Viognier, a dry rosé, as well as both white and red Ports, made from some of the best grapes that Washington has to offer; in other words some of the best grapes in the world!

Eleven Winery has two tasting room locations, one an easy walk from the ferry on Bainbridge Island in Winslow, and one at the winery, about five miles up the road. The Winslow tasting room is located right in the heart of the shopping district (287 Winslow Way East). At their Winery Tasting Room, they offer a sampling of five wines for $8. The five wines are chosen by you from our menu of approximately ten current releases, including white, red, rose and dessert wines. There’s also a picnic area and a petanque court with live music on Saturdays.
