The 14th annual Summer Studio Tour showcases the work of 48 artists in five local artists’ studios. Many new artists will be on hand, and there will be a wonderful variety of hand-crafted work, including watercolors, jewelry, pottery, furniture, metal art, garden art, mixed media, fiber art, and photography. Be sure to check out all five studios and buy original hand-crafted art directly from the artist. Grab a cool lemonade and stroll through the artists’ studios and gardens. Bring a friend and spend the day. The studios are open 10am to 6pm on Friday and Saturday, and 10am to 5pm on Sunday. The Studio Tour is a free self-guided tour. Admission: Free

Romson Regarde Bustillo was born on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines. His work is represented in private and public collections nationally and internationally. Dugay na, meaning “no longer new” or “a long time now,” in the Mindanao Bisaya/Cebuano language, is part of an evolving series of intricately patterned prints and mix media on paper. With this project Bustillo is continuing to explore how shifts in metacognition play important roles for cultures, individuals, and the creative process. Each piece can act as a narrative, meditation tool, a spell, or all three. Admission: Free

This summer, how would you and your family like to experience the world…without leaving home? Why not host an English-speaking, 14-year-old exchange student from Okinawa, Japan? There is still a need for just a few more volunteer host families. If interested, meet the many families on Bainbridge Island who already will be hosting the 15 kids for four weeks, from July 25 to August 22. Arrangements can be made for hosting only part of the four weeks, and some compensation to cover costs is available. The students will attend English classes and excursions every weekday.
