It’s time for BILA’s regular list of Things To Do on Bainbridge Island This Week. Just like in weeks and months past, we’ve found quite a diverse lot of activities this week, from family-friendly story time and beach combing to a couple of Valentines Day-themed events. With everything to see and do, we think you’ll want to spend a few nights on our Bainbridge Island!

Monday, February 10

Toddler Story Time at the Library
10:30 am @ Bainbridge Island Public Library (1270 Madison Avenue North)
Get a jump start on reading at this early literacy storytime geared just for toddlers (ages 0-6). Lots of full body movement, songs, stories and rhymes designed to build letter knowledge, vocabulary and narrative skills. Admission: Free

Intentional Table on Bainbridge IslandEat Your Words: A Cookbook Book Group

Reading was never so delicious! Each month, we gather at Intentional Table to discuss a cookbook or food memoir. We’ll learn a few tricks, sample a few treats, and discover scrumptious cookbooks that are a feast for your eyes as well as your stomach. This month, we will be discussing The Kitchen Counter Cooking School: How a Few Simple Lessons Transformed Nine Culinary Novices into Fearless Home Cooks by Kathleen Flinn. Admission: Inquire

This month’s film is Dr. Strangelove, a comedy directed by Stanley Kubrick and starring Peter Sellers, George C. Scott and Sterling Hayden. A black and white film, it was released in 1964 and is rated PG (93 mins.) Admission: Free

Join Bainbridge Island Museum of Art Solo Exhibition Artist Joseph Gregory Rossano for an artist lecture and reflection on his exhibition: Whitewashed, on view through March 16, 2014 in the Orientation and MESA galleries. “I’m moved to make things about animals and their plight, because they cannot speak for themselves, and their fight for survival is often misunderstood as a direct threat to Man. Please try to see what is hidden beneath the clean white coating, the Whitewash, of these works. Their purpose is to change how we treat nature and each other.” – Joseph Gregory Rossano Reception with light food and beverage following lecture. Admission: $10

With Katie’s vocals and Bill Anschell on piano and Chris Symer on bass, this jazz trio will remind you how lovely love is! Sunday, February 16

IslandWood Community Critter DiveIslandWood Community Critter Dive
10:00 am – 12:00 pm @ Fort Ward Park (2241 Pleasant Beach Drive)
Join IslandWood educators and certified beach naturalists as they identify sea stars, nudibranchs, sea cucumbers, urchins, marine worms and more! Participants will get a close-up look at critters brought back from the briney deep by volunteer divers and placed gently into kiddie swimming pools. We’ll have some of our favorite marine life field guides to enhance identification. Beach naturalists will model respectful techniques for interacting with wildlife as we practice being responsible beach stewards while enjoying our investigations and outdoor fun alongside Rich Passage. Please wear rain boots and warm clothing. For the safety of the marine life, please no dogs at this event. Pre-registration required. Admission: Free
