Bainbridge Island resident and architect Johnpaul Jones is to be honored by President Barack Obama as one of 10 winners of the National Humanities Medals for his “natural world and indigenous traditions in architecture”. Jones is the architect that designed the Japanese American Exclusion Memorial and assisted the community in designing the Waypoint. Admission: Free

Tuesday, July 29

Kitsap County Prosecutor Candidates Forum
6:30 pm @ Bainbridge Island City Hall (280 Madison Avenue North)
A forum for prosecutor candidates and candidates for judge, Kitsap County District Court, Department 1, is to be moderated by Court of Appeals Judge Robin Hunt. The candidates have the opportunity to discuss a broad range of law and justice issues. The public is welcome and audience questions are encouraged. Admission: Free

1:00 – 3:00 pm @ Bainbridge Island Public Library (1270 Madison Avenue North)
Kids, teens and grown-ups: artists and creative types of all ages are invited to come turn the library into a gallery of yarn art. Knit, crochet, wrapping, pom-poms, macramé, etc.- any style of yarn art is welcome. Knitters and crocheters will be on hand to help teach or refresh skills. Where’s Waldo on Bainbridge Island Farewell

It has been a wonderful month for Waldo! He has enjoyed visiting 30 locations on Bainbridge Island, and seeing all the determined hunters who have tracked him down. So now we are saying goodbye to Waldo with a big send off party! Come dressed like Waldo and enjoyed some Waldo-inspired cookies. Admission: Free

Block Prints: A Workshop for Adults with Erica Applewhite
1:30 – 3:30 pm @ Bainbridge Arts & Crafts (151 Winslow Way East)
Explore the unique world of block printing. Discover a simple and portable method of creating small relief prints to use for cards, handmade books, your own logo, and more. You will design and carve your own block to keep and hand print again and again. Carving tools and materials provided. Please bring a pencil, a blue or black ink pen, and idea books or visual materials for inspiration. Admission: $50
