Kitsap Regional Library presents, “Eat Your Words: A Cookbook Book Group”

Reading was never so delicious! Each month, the book group gathers at Intentional Table to discuss a cookbook. There, participants learn a few tricks, sample a few treats, and discover scrumptious cookbooks that are a feast for your eyes as well as your stomach. This month’s film, Great Expectations, was released in 1946 by Universal Pictures. Unrated and 118 minutes in length, the classic film is directed by David Lean and stars John Mills and Valerie Hobson. The story concerns a humble orphan who suddenly becomes a gentleman with the help of an unknown benefactor. Admission: Free

This beginning calligraphy workshop will introduce the basics of the Italic letterform, first used in Italy in the 15th century. Working with pen and ink on paper, you will learn and apply letterforms, learn about the work of expert calligraphers and use Italic in everyday applications. Supplies included. Admission: $50

This magical novel follows the course of Declan O’Donnell, who at the end of Mink River set sail off the Oregon Coast. As The Plover opens, Declan is planning to follow the 45th parallel west in solitude in his fishing boat. The journey starts with a lot of one-way philosophical conversations between Declan and the gull who is riding along, perching on the roof of cabin. But the plot begins to take a different tack as the population of the boat begins to grow. Admission: Free
