Things To Do on Bainbridge Island This Week – November 4-10

It’s time for another rundown of great Things To Do on Bainbridge Island this week. As usual, the Island offers a wide variety of events this week, from history lectures and art exhibitions to live music at the local brewery. Although it’s November, there are also a couple of outdoor events on tap- check out the local Farmers’ Market while you still can, and why not take a guided tour of the historic Suyematsu and Bentryn Family Farms? It’s a great way to see sustainable Bainbridge Island in action!

Monday, November 4

The Korean War LectureLecture: Korea, The Forgotten War
7:00 – 8:30 pm @ Bainbridge Island Public Library (1270 Madison Avenue N.)
Enjoy the first lecture in a three-part series presented by Laurence Kerr, where he will discuss the historical background to what many call “The Forgotten War.” Kerr will describe the post-WWII strategic environment, the decision for war and the initial weeks of combat on the Korean Peninsula. Tuesday, November 5

Spanish for the Little Ones
10:00 – 10:45 am @ The Island School (8553 NE Day Road)
This Spanish program is specially designed for pre-school age children and their parents or caregivers. The class will be taught at the Island School by their Spanish teacher, Elsa Trail, on Tuesday mornings through December 17. Enjoy the artwork of Elizabeth Reed Smith in the Museum’s bistro now through January 5, 2014. “Nature is ever moving, the seasons dictate and trees change color and eventually, shape. My drawings too take different forms, sometimes dry point engraving, sometimes highlighting with gold leaf, sometimes silverpoint. These changes of direction are always punctuated by a return to my first love, the fine line of pen and ink.” – Elizabeth Reed Smith. Admission: Free

Walking Tour of Suyematsu and Bentryn Family Farms

All are welcome to join Friends of the Farms on a guided 90-minute walking tour of the historic Suyematsu and Bentryn Family Farms. The walk will take you past berries, vineyards and row crops.
