Project Backpack equips Bainbridge Island preschoolers through high school students with essential school supplies, including backpacks! Since 2000, nearly 1,400 students in need have started each new school year with our community’s immeasurable contributions to help students aim for a brighter future. Admission: N/A

A Taste of Mussar
6:30 – 8:30 pm @ Congregation Kol Shalom (9010 Miller Road NE)
Mussar is the Jewish practice of spiritual self-development. It offers profound yet practical teachings that deepen self-awareness and lead to transformative changes in daily life. The class will run for 4 weeks and is led by Rabbi Joyce Reinitz. Admission: $36 to cover the cost of materials. An additional contribution is requested from non-Kol Shalom members.

It’s almost time to celebrate summer’s last hurrah! Bloedel Reserve is throwing an old-fashioned outdoor party. Bring your own picnic food and a blanket, and Bloedel will provide an unforgettable night. Dance under the twilight sky to Cuban-influenced music by Si Limon. Try your skill with croquet, bocce ball and badminton. Or, simply stretch out on your blanket and bask in the summer breeze. And since no picnic is complete without a frozen treat, a complimentary dessert will be provided. Admission: $10 (members); Non-members: $18; discounts for children, seniors and military.

Max Grover is an artist, illustrator, and gallery owner living in Port Townsend, WA. His works have been exhibited in galleries throughout the Pacific Northwest and California. Grover is adept at using familiar and simple motifs, making them fun and whimsical. He is a favorite among the youngest generations. Max’s painting style is full of charm and inspires the young at heart. This exhibition uses Grover’s numerous personal collections as inspiration for each new painting. Admission: Free
