Featuring Trees in Art artists Donna Leavitt, Cheryl A. Richey, and Elizabeth Reed Smith. Although their diverse styles and media represent a range of realistic and abstract renderings of trees, these Northwest artists share a deep affinity for trees and an interest in exploring and understanding their unifying symbolism. Admission: Free

Tuesday, August 4

Reading Buddies at the Library
10:30 am – 11:30 am @ Bainbridge Island Public Library (1270 Madison Avenue North)
Babies, toddlers, preschoolers and their families are invited to drop by and hear stories read by our Reading Buddy volunteers. This is an opportunity for young children to make a new friend and share books together. Stay for a few minutes or stay for an hour. Admission: Free

Wednesday, August 5

9:00 am – 11:00 am @ Stowell Easement (Directions upon RSVP)
Join the Bainbridge Island Land Trust for their ongoing First Wednesday Work Parties on the Land Trust’s conservation properties. This month they will be visiting the Stowell easement to assist the landowner with the removal of invasive ivy from this critical wetland. Bring a water bottle and work gloves. Light refreshments and good company will be provided! Admission: Free

Heyday Farm Store

The Heyday Farm store is open Mondays through Saturdays, 10 am – 6 pm at Lynwood Center

Cooking and Preserving Tomatoes
6:00 pm – 8:00 pm @ Farmhouse and Kitchen on Old Mill Road (4370 Old Mill Road NE)
Learn the art and joy of preserving and cooking with fresh Tomatoes! Participants will receive an introduction to preserving and then head out to Heyday’s kitchen garden to harvest ingredients to be used while cooking. Afterwards, participants will learn how to prepare four different recipes (Tomato Jam, Pomodoro, Panzanella Bread Salad and Tomato Cake).  Expect to go home with preserves of your own.  Admission: $95 plus tax
