Head over to Bainbridge Island’s own brewery and taproom to hear a great island rock and roll funk band! Admission: Free
Saturday, October 10
Planetarium Show: “The Other Pale Blue Worlds”
7:30 pm @ Ritchie Observatory at Battle Point Park (11299 Arrow Point Drive NE)
Join Astronomer Steve Ruhl and look at the other blue worlds in our solar system – Uranus and Neptune. Both gas giants are in prime viewing position. There will also be a Special Kids Show at 6:00 pm with Dr. Erica. If the sky is clear, astronomers will be on hand with telescopes for public star & planet gazing afterward. Admission: Free to members, $2 suggested donation

Poetry Triple-Header at Eagle Harbor Book Co.
3:00 pm – 4:00 pm @ Eagle Harbor Book Co. (157 Winslow Way East)
Eagle Harbor Books celebrates poetry with three wonderful northwest poets! Ronda Broatch, photographer, Pilates guru, and co-editor of the literary journal Crab Creek Review, will present her first full-length book, The Lake of Fallen Constellations. Award-winning poet Jenifer Browne Lawrence will read from her latest book, Grayling, which won the 2015 Perugia Press Prize. Natasha Kochicheril Moni is a naturopathic medical student at Bastyr University, whose book, The Cardiologist’s Daughter, is described as “a tender homage to her Indian and Dutch family roots and an intense reflection on the quest for personal identity.” Admission: Free

Messy Monday Theme: Flying Bats!

Stop by KiDiMu for messy experimentation and sensory exploration featuring tissue paper and glue with the theme of flying bats! Children will practice sensory and motor skills, and use imagination as they create their masterpiece. Admission: $7 (otherwise free with admission or membership);

smARTfilms: NOIR: John Huston’s Asphalt Jungle

Come see the next flick in BIMA’s new smARTfilm NOIR series. Directed by John Huston, Asphalt Jungle is a 1950 film starring Sterling Hayden, Louis Calhern and Jean Hagen. Admission: $11 ($57 with dinner);

BBC Last Night of the Proms, 2015

Fathom Events and BBC Worldwide Americas are partnering to present the grand finale of the world’s most celebrated classical music festivals, BBC Last Night of the Proms 2015. Pianist Benjamin Grosvenor, soprano Danielle de Niese and tenor Jonas Kaufmann are the stars at this year’s Last Night of the Proms, recorded live from London’s Royal Albert Hall. Admission: $15 adults, $12.50 seniors & children;

Bainbridge Fruit Club: Anthracnose

This months timely topic is on Anthracnose, an infection that causes large canker sores on apple trees, resulting in some branches–if not the tree itself—to die. Darren will have a video which he promises is “really good,” it discusses how to identify Anthracnose and treatment options. Sample cuttings will also be on hand to show folks. Bring some goodies to share during the break. This is an all ages. Admission: Free
