Things To Do on Bainbridge Island This Week – September 30-October 6

Autumn has officially arrived on beautiful Bainbridge Island, but that doesn’t mean any let up in the number of Things To Do on Bainbridge Island this week. To welcome the month of October, this week a couple of art shows, and two options for live music – from a rave-worthy live band to the Men’s Compline Choir. Just more to show the eclectic offerings on Bainbridge. With everything to see and do, we think you’ll want to spend a few nights on our Bainbridge Island!

Toddler Storytime is back at the Bainbridge Island Public Library this week. Taking place in the large meeting room, bring your toddlers to enjoy stories, rhymes, songs and fun with our children’s librarian. For ages 18 months – 3 years with parent/caregiver. Admission: Free

The Wednesday Watercolor group is comprised of more than 18 dedicated artists. Many have painted and shown together for nearly a decade. Some works on display will highlight different areas of the Reserve. Free First Thursday at KiDiMu
10:00 am – 4:00 pm @ Kids’ Discovery Museum (301 Ravine Lane NE)
On the first Thursday of the month, families are invited to explore the popular Kids’ Discovery Museum, better known as KiDiMu! Enjoy a free-admission day, sponsored by Wells Fargo Bank. Kids (and adults, too!) can have fun with a variety of hands-on exhibits and art activities. All are welcome! Admission: Free

1st Friday Art Walk
5:00 – 7:00 pm @ Location (Address)
Head to Downtown Winslow for an evening of art, food and friends! The monthly Art Walk features businesses that are either featuring an art exhibit or are offering small bites on their menus. Participating businesses are listed in walking order starting on Winslow Way near the ferry terminal. Venues include the downtown Winslow galleries, Bainbridge Library & Marge Williams Center. Refreshments served at most venues. A number of local restaurants join the monthly event, offering small plates and weekend specials. Easy walk from the ferry. Admission: $

The Maldives have packed festivals like Bumbershoot and SXSW, and been a regular chart topper for years. In 2005 they were featured on MTV’s $5 Cover Series that spotlighted the best of the northwest music scene. Their brand new record, Muscle For The Wing was produced by Shawn Simmons. Enjoy their live set, along with opener Ephrata, at the Treehouse Café! Admission: $15

Sunday, October 6

Men’s Compline Choir of Bainbridge Island
8:00 pm @ St. Barnabas Episcopal Church (1187 Wyatt Way NW)
The Men’s Compline Choir of Bainbridge Island sings the Office of Compline at 8pm the first Sunday of each month. Compline, also called Night Prayer, is the last of the traditional daily services sung by monastic communities and dates back to at least the 8th century. The service consists of chant, readings, psalms, prayers, petitions and hymns, sung in a contemplative setting in a darkened church. All are welcome.
